Lessons Learned
Sarah:
Today was the last day that we actually played. We played Colorado today and tied them 2 to 2. This game was our worst game as a team but we were still undefeated overall which was a great accomplishment. Along the way the weather was really hot, which was a big change for us Washington girls! The food that we all ate everyday was pasta, salad, and maybe some fruit or a sandwich. Overall this experience has been a great step for all the girls, and has taught us many things that we can do better because of the high level of play. We were also always professional, and represented Washington well! Thank you to all the staff at this camp and especially to Malia and Pedro for giving us this opportunity to grow as a player.
Good job Girls!
Shelby:
Day 4: Today was very hot! Everyone was sweating by the time we walked down our stairs to get outside our dorms. We went to breakfast and had the usual potato something and eggs or waffles. We headed to the field where we played Colorado. Everyone was exhausted and we didn’t play as well as we had the past few days. The game ended with tie. Good job to Callen and Becca for scoring our goals. We went undefeated. It was fun being the team to beat. This week was a combination of stress, hard work, improvement, and determination. Our team was very professional the whole-week. We were in two lines everywhere we went, had our bags on the same shoulder, and wore the same thing 24\7. Everyone is very stressed right now, because of the big announcement tomorrow. Thanks to our manager Trish, our coaches, and the staff for making our experience so memorable.

Game vs Cal North
SARAH
So we found out last night that we were going to be playing Cal North this morning. We all knew that this was going to be a really hard game considering that they beat Cal South, but we were excited to know that the coaches put us up against a hard opponent. The game didn’t start too well, and we were scored on in the first ten minutes. As we started to do better and gain more possession we scored two goals. They were both in the last ten minutes of the game and were scored by Abbey and Kara. After our game we went and watched the world cup game between Germany and Spain and then went to our lecture. During the lecture we found a way to pull the whole team together by using the word “Cuatro”. The C means commitment, the U means unity, the A means attitude, the T means trust, the R means representing, and the O means overcoming. Now every girl in Region four can say that they are on team Cuatro!

Today we played Cal North. They scored in the first ten minutes, but we had possession and played pretty well in the first half. The second half was a little tougher, but in the last ten minutes, we came up with two goals. They were scored by Abbey and Kara. Later, we watched the Spain and Germany game. We then had training with our regional coach Tumi. He is very fun and energetic. We worked on transitions most of the training. The invites were Sierra, Brie, Callen, Anna, Kiana, Jordan, and Kara. They played really well! At our meeting with the regional coach, we talked about “cuatro”. It stands for commitment, unity, attitude, trust, respect, overcoming. It’s what Region four is all about!
Washington DEFEATS Cal South
SARAH
Last night we found out that we were playing Cal South which we knew would be another hard opponent. We went to the fields but before we could start warming up we got some advice. The advice was to play hard but relax because the coaches were having a hard time pulling out the top players. Then we warmed up and started the game which ended up with a 1 to 0 win! The goal was scored by Becca in the last ten minutes. Then we went to lunch, bought some camp gear, and relaxed. Now we are going to go to practice and find out who is going to be playing in the invitational game tonight, and what team we are going to be playing tomorrow!

This morning we got to sleep in a little more than usual. We played Cal South at 9:30. We came out really strong. It was back and forth the whole game. We had opportunities, but not very many. In the last two minutes, Callen played a long ball to Becca. Becca took a touch away from the goalie, and hit into the goal, passing three defenders. This was our first time beating Cal South. It was VERY exciting. Darby was hit in the head really hard with another girls head. She has a huge egg on her head. We don’t know who is invited to the invitational game yet, but our team is doing really well being undefeated.
DAY 1
SARAH
Today was the first day of regional camp and I think Washington did really well! We were told at 10 o clock last night that we were going to be playing New Mexico today, and we ended up winning 2 to 0. The fist goal was scored by Becca and the second was scored by Kara. They were both really nice and were both scored in the first half. We had many more chances in the second half but didn’t finish any of them. Now we are going to go to a soccer lesson, and then go to iSoccer. After that we will be going to dinner and then back out to the fields to watch the invitational game. After that we will probably come back and take an ice bath to make sure we aren’t too sore on Friday!

Today we had our first game against New Mexico. As a team, we played really well for our first game. Becca scored the first goal from a cross by Kara. The second goal was scored by a cross from Becca to Kara. Kara was right with the goalie, then she took a couple dribbles and scored. We won two to zero. We had lots of opportunities in the second half, but didn’t finish. Our defense was really strong today. Good job to Washington 95’. Later today we have iSoccer. It is supposed to be a technical evaluation that’s very relaxed and fun. We are going to find out who is in the invitational game later tonight against Hawaii.
